Who we are
McAwesome Ranch is an 11-acre private property located just outside Castle Rock, CO, that hosts an annual invite-only bluegrass festival (McAwesomefest), as well as other invite-only events throughout the year. The intention with the festival each year is to create a space for our community to reconnect. It's a weekend about the musicians, supporting the people and music we love, and deepening our relationships with each other. Our annual grassroots party sure does feel authentic. People all crave connection, and live music melts away our differences allowing us to be present in the experience. That 'magic' spills over into the field, where a casual stroll presents multiple opportunities to genuinely interact with other amazing humans. It takes a lot of energy to create something this special and so many amazing people contribute to this vision with their time and support.
This community is special because of YOU!
What makes it special?
FIELD POTLUCK- EVERYONE is invited to join the welcome potluck in the field on Friday evening. Bring a dish to share, reconnect with friends, and enjoy the music!
LATE NIGHT COMMUNITY BARN PICKS- We want everyone to focus on connecting and relationships, and a pickin' circle is about as connected as you can be. We'll have the woodstove burning!
REJUVINATION- We are planning to have professionally guided yoga meditations again this year over the weekend. Plan to join us under the pine trees for this chance to connect.
CAMPING: Yes, you can bring your tent, camp trailer, and/or RV! There will be open camping this year in the 5-acre field, and the horse arena will be available as a quiet/non-picking/family option. If you’d like to camp alongside other specific campers it would be best to arrive together; we’ll prioritize spaces for RVs/trailers based on access to maneuver. If you intend to bring an RV/trailer, we are asking for an additional $50 donation. Please refrain from using generators between 10pm-8am.
BEER: There will be stainless-steel souvenir refillable festi-cups for an additional donation, good for refills during the music. These cups will be available at the bar/kegerator for $40 at the festival. If you indulge in multiple trips to the bar/kegerator please consider an additional donation/tip to help cover the costs. We will also plan to have a non-alcoholic option available for our designated drivers and other non-alcohol drinking adult friends.
KIDS: The fest is always FAMILY FRIENDLY. Kids 15 and under are FREE! Force them to come since they can't drive! Please prepare your kids to be considerate of the other attendees and help maintain an atmosphere that keeps this an enjoyable event for everyone. Please be a responsible festi-family and make arrangements for your kids to have fun and be safe on my property and in your camp area.
SAFETY: Families, Music, and Fun, are the priorities of this festival, not drugs. Please be responsible festivarians on the property. Leave no trace, consume responsibly, store your drinkables/edibles/smokeables responsibly. Please respect other festi-families and non-smokers, and do not smoke in the amphitheater, barn, or kid zone. DO NOT DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE. Sleep it off in the cozy barn or walk the field and enjoy the picking until you’re safe to drive.
DOGS: The fest is dog friendly! All dogs MUST BE ON LEASH if they leave your camp, for the safety of our friends and your dogs. No dogs will be allowed in the amphitheater (top tier is okay...) or barn. Please clean up after your dog. This is our private property, and we reserve the right to ask you to take your dog home and come back if your dog is perceived to be a menace or disruption.
FOOD TRUCKS: This year we are planning to have some variety in the menu offered by our TBA vendor. For your other food/drink/shopping needs, McAwesome Ranch is literally 5 min from downtown Castle Rock. You can bring in your own items, please just pack it in/ pack it out, leave no trace, etc. Coolers are welcome; no need to smuggle in any of your goods!
SEATING: Feel free to bring a blanket and/or chairs and make yourself comfortable. We maintain open seating in the amphitheater on the steps, the hillside, and the open area toward the playground. Bring your pop-up as well. Please don't place chairs in front of the stage as that area is for dancing!
